Why do I need a password to access the SWAN “Members Only” web page?

All SWAN “Members Only” information (such as the SWAN Administrators’ Quarterly Meeting packet) is PROPRIETARY AND CONFIDENTIAL between Metropolitan Library System and the SWAN membership, and should not be shared in any format outside of MLS without express approval.  Other examples, which include but are not limited to strategic decisions when deciding among products or vendors, purchasing agreements, meeting notes, certain financials, etc., are PROPRIETARY AND CONFIDENTIAL among MLS and SWAN members.

Further, and as stated by legal contract between Innovative Interfaces, Inc. and MLS on behalf of SWAN members, information and documentation such as purchase agreements, price quotations, system documentation, training methods, and correspondence (i.e., just about everything!) are PROPRIETARY AND CONFIDENTIAL.

How do I acquire my library’s ”Members Only” password so that I can access the SWAN “Members Only” password protected Web page?

Directors can locate the library’s “Members Only” password using the SWAN Director’s Login.  If you do not have this, or have misplaced this user name and password, it can be obtained from the "Director's Login." If you do not have access to the "Director's Login," contact your library administrator. If your administrator cannot access the "Director's Login," she or he can contact Linda McIntosh (630.734.5154), or Dave Pacin (630.734.5151) in the Computer Room. Once you have the “Director’s Login,” you can login to retrieve your “Members Only” password. Please note: SWAN passwords are changed quarterly.

Once I have my “Members Only” password, how do I access the SWAN password protected web page?

You can access the password protected SWAN web page from the MLS main web page http://www.mls.lib.il.us; click on SWAN Support (members only) under SWAN Services.  When the window pops up, fill in your user name and password, check the “Remember My Password” box, and press enter.  You will be logged into the SWAN “Members Only” page.
