The MLS Board meeting will convene at 5:30 p.m., the Board of LIMRiCC immediately following. Meeting agendas can be found at http://www.mls.lib.il.us/board. Both meetings will be held at the MLS Burr Ridge office located at 125 Tower Drive, Burr Ridge, Illinois. ALA National Library Legislative Day 2008National Library Legislative Day this year, which took place May 13 14, 2008, saw over 400 librarians, trustees, and library supporters ascend on the capital from libraries around the country. They brought their message of support for libraries, library legislation, and keeping libraries up front in the minds of our legislators. Continuing Education EventsNew Librarians Group, Thursday, July 31, 2008, 9:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m., Eisenhower Public Library Grants & AwardsThe American Library Association (ALA) is now accepting applications for the 2009 class of Emerging Leaders. The program is designed to enable more than 100 new librarians to get on the fast track to ALA and professional leadership. Participants are given the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, network with peers and get an inside look into ALA structure and activities. The deadline is July 31. The calendar, called Library Learning or L2 for short, will enhance the registration process for library members, and provide better use of state library resources at both the state library and library system level. http://www.mls.lib.il.us/calendar/. MLS Service: New Emergency GeneratorThe new SWAN Emergency Generator arrived at the MLS Burr Ridge office during the last full week of June. As part of MLS and SWANs emergency procedures, the generator, fueled by natural gas will provide emergency power for SWAN services, MLS Burr Ridge phones, and burglar alarm system. Member Spotlight: Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation TrustThe Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust, located in Oak Park, on the lower level of the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, is comprised of over 1,100 reference collection items, 400 circulating collection items, and 15 special collections. The main focus of the collections in the Museum and the Research Center is the architectural and design legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright, and the context surrounding his work in the Chicago area.
