About MLS Consulting

MLS Consultants provide support and answer questions about all facets of librarianship and library work. We can help library staff solve a difficult problem, train new trustees or act as a liaison or advocate. And we provide a central online database to advertise or find library jobs.

Consulting Services and Resources

MLS Consultants have the knowledge to provide insight on a variety of topics including, but not limited to Advocacy and Legislation, Grant Development, Marketing Initiatives, Staff Training and Development, and many more. A printable list highlighting additional services can be found at MLS Consulting Services Fact Sheet. Email consultants@mls.lib.il.us or call (630) 734-5130 to be immediately connected with a member of the Consulting Team.

Grants & Awards

MLS Consultants are avaliable to assist members with applying for grants. The following grants are supported by the Illinois State Library, and are just some of the grants avaliable for MLS libraires. The MLS newsletter MLS E-nnnounce also has a section for grants and awards.

Legal Opinions

Legal opinions are provided to MLS by the law firm of Klein, Thorpe & Jenkins, Ltd. This firm concentrates in the representation of local libraries, library districts and library systems, as well as other local governmental units.
